The ceremony celebrated the completion of the highest point of the new Inn with 40 bedrooms on the site along Blyth’s Quay Road. The Commissioners Quay Inn will be developed by Arch Developments, and operated by hospitality and leisure specialists, The Inn Collection Group (ICG) which has an expanding portfolio of inns with rooms across the North East and North Yorkshire.

The four-storey building, which is part-funded by the North East LEP’s North East Investment Fund (NEIF), has a stunning waterfront location and will be open for business ahead of the arrival of the Tall Ships in the summer, creating 40 new jobs for the town.

The Commissioners Quay Inn has been designed with 40 bedrooms across three floors, while a bar and eatery area on the ground floor will provide covers for up to 265 diners inside with a further 100 covers outside and offer informal meeting spaces. The Inn will operate on the ICG model of providing value-formoney accommodation, quality beverages including local real ales, and homemade pub fare served all day, 365 days a year.

ICG chief executive Keith Liddell said: “As we move closer towards completion of The Commissioners Quay Inn, we are delighted to have reached this significant milestone in the project build. Our focus will now move to the building’s interior and creating an outstanding environment for people to eat, drink and stay in.”
